Here's how it all started...

For every bottle of wine, olive oil or other culinary indulgence brought home from a trip, there's a special story that goes along with it. For James and Amy Dias, it was two bottles of wine from Australia that resulted in the founding of BottleWise LLC. During a 2007 trip Down Under, a business associate gave James two bottles of wine from a family vineyard just before his return flight. Knowing that TSA restrictions prohibited him from transporting the wine in his carry-on, James wrapped the bottles in clothing, placed them in his suitcase and then spent most of the 24-hour flight worried the bottles would break in his luggage, ruining everything inside.

After researching the marketplace and talking with friends who've had similar near misses, James and Amy determined that, given today's tight carry-on policy restrictions, it has become increasingly difficult for air travelers to bring home that special souvenir from their journeys. And so, BottleWise was born with the hopes of providing peace of mind for epicurean adventurers and other thirsty travelers.
